The Latin World is an essential part of the life and work of American artist Alette Simmons-Jiménez. It’s in her blood ...
The fact, that an artist may use two distinct media, llike painting and sculpture, to communicate a personal world full of experiences, occurs infrequently. Simmons-Jiménez does it effciently ...
in: Armando Alvarez-Bravo, The Miami Herald / El Nuevo Herald, Galerie, Dec. 10, 1996, Miami, FL

... She works canvas and sculpture with intricate layers of colors followed by an obsessive scratching, digging and carving done with neat methotical strokes of a hard bristle brush.
The easy transition between painting and sculpture in the works of Alette Simmons-Jiménez is based of her strong and natural sense of the formal elements of artistic and aesthetic construction ... Informed by her strong sculptural expertise, the works combine a solidity of form with the mysteriousness of content for provocative results.
in: Carol Damian, FIU, Exhibition Catalogue, December 1996, Miami, FL

The promise was confirmed, a personal style was achieved ... It would be more correct to qualify Alette Simmons-Jiménez as an artist, and not to limit her to only one category, being that she has involved herself - proficiently - equally in painting, three-dimensional works (painted sculpture) and in video (winning a first prize at the „Bienal“).
in: Marianne de Tolentino, El Listin Diario, Ventana, March 16, 1997
