Exclusive to Blackwell is an exhibition of new images of the landscape by one of Britain’s most popular photographers, John Swannell. Mainly comprising of Lake District  subjects, the photographs will look wonderful in the intimate rooms at Blackwell, which have such breathtaking views of lake Windermere and the Coniston fells.

John Swannell, who has travelled to the world’s most exotic locations, still regards the Lake District as one of the most beautiful places to photograph and he is a regular visitor, particularly to Ullswater. Landscape has always been an important element of his art, but until now this has always been in black and white. New advances in digital printing techniques and processes  have now enabled him to obtain the effects he seeks in colour, as can be seen in the new works at Blackwell.

The lecture John is giving in Friday 10 May sold out in the first week. Owing to popular demand, John has kindly agreed to give an additional lecture at Blackwell on Monday 13 May. He will talk about his passion for wanting to capture the ‘magic of the moment’ which is so central to his work, whilst explaining some of the processes and techniques. John is currently completing a book containing portraits of some of the greatest living people from the twentieth century. In the second half of his talk he will give a preview of some of the images to be included in the book, which will be published in the autumn.
