Third Chicago International Photographic Salon

Third Chicago International Photographic Salon

July 23 to October 11, 1931. The Art Institute of Chicago
In Memoriam Paul Wierum 1862–1931

The technical development of the photographic processes has been rapid during the past generation and they are employed today in almost every field of industrial, commercial and scientific endeavor. While photography has been proving itself a useful tool in our daily lives, it has established itself firmly as a recognized medium of truly artistic expression and there is a constantly increasing group of pictorial photographers throughout the world whose work ranks with that of the foremost artists of brush or pencil.

For many years the Chicago Camera Club has sponsored the advancement of photography as a fine art, this being the Club's twenty-eighth annual exhibit and its Third International Salon. The works hung this year represent an expression of the highest form of photographic art, as selected by an experienced jury from the large number of prints submitted.

To the many artists throughout the world whose contributions honor this exhibit, to the jury of selection who have given so freely of their time and experience, to the donors of purchase awards who have offered the incentive for even better work in the Future and to the Directors and Officers of the Art Institute whose whole hearted cooperation has made it possible to exhibit this work to the largest number of people, the members of the Chicago Camera Club are deeply grateful.
